A new Channel 4 documentary series, The Fall: Skydive Murder Plot, will tell the story of Victoria Cilliers, who suffered what appeared to be a skydiving accident that saw both her main and reserve parachutes fail. The 2015 incident saw Victoria sent plummeting straight into the ground from 4,000 ft. An investigation over the next two years proved that Victoria’s husband, South African-born Army sergeant Emile Cilliers, was responsible.

On Easter Sunday 2015, Victoria undertook a 4,000ft parachute jump at Netheravon Airfield, Wiltshire on the suggestion of her husband Emile. She had recently given birth to their second child. Both Victoria’s main parachute and the back-up parachute failed to open during the skydive and she plummeted to earth.

She ultimately survived the fall, suffering a broken spine, pelvis and fractured ribs. An initial inquiry revealed the parachute had been tampered with – the main canopy had been tangled and slinks rem.
