Paramount+ released the first photographic evidence of its prequel, . Telling the story of another poor pixie-haired woman manipulated by creepy neighbors and, presumably, a man who is one sick SOB in league with the devil, the show described as a prequel looks like a remake. Set a few years before Roman Polanski’s original, introduces us to the antichrist’s carrier before Rosemay.
Taking over for Mia Farrow, Julia Garner stars a young dancer named Terry, who moves into New York City’s beautiful Bramford apartment building to chase her Broadway dreams. After she suffers a career-altering injury, her off-putting neighbors (Dianne Wiest and Kevin McNally, replacing Ruth Gordon and Sidney Blackmer) nurse the woman back to health and then some. They introduce her to another Bramford resident, a Broadway producer (Jim Sturgess), but after one hazy night, things start to look a little strange, like maybe she has a growing in her tummy.
There’s not a ton to say about this. looks exactly like a prequel. Still, few can play distressed as well as Garner, so between her and Wiest, we may be in for some fun and upsetting performances.
Perhaps there are new terrors to mine in the story of a single woman instead of someone married to John Cassavetes. After all, we already had a crack at a remake. At the very least, is a movie, not an overlong miniseries.
It premieres on Paramount+ on September 27. Check out the first-look photos below..
