With an incredible collaboration of organisations, both local and international, World Ocean Day, held last Saturday, produced an amazing array of sea experiences for children and adults. Inviting not only the public, but the Get Grenada Swimming Saturday swim sites around Grenada, the event hosted over 250 people. Deb Eastwood, Director of Get Grenada Swimming, expressed her gratitude to all the Site Supervisors who played a crucial role in bringing their children down to experience scuba, snorkeling, sailing, lifeguard demonstrations and a host of educational and exciting experiences.

Eastwood wanted to recognise all the local dive shops which donated their time and resources to providing so many experiences for the youth. Eco-Dive ran 3 snorkel trips right off Grand Anse. Aquanauts hosted 3 groups of scuba divers at True Blue.

Scuba West Indies took children snorkelling out to Glover Island, and Dive Grenada hosted 3 groups snorkelling out to the reef project in front of Mt Cinnamon. In addition, the Woburn Windward Warriors, along with Eco-Dive provided Hobbie Cat sailing rides all morning. Ocean Spirits and Eco-Dive provided a tent of activities such as sandcastle competitions, face painting, shark tattoos, sea creature drawings and more.

Eastwood also wanted to recognise Thaddeus Gamory from Diversity in Aquatics (DIA) based in Washington DC. DIA is an organisation built to develop a network to help save lives by empowering communities to have equitable access to qualit.
