Grayson Murray had won a second career PGA Tour title before tragically passing away on Saturday. After citing an illness to playing partners when withdrawing on Friday with just two holes remaining in his second round of the Charles Schwab Challenge, tragic news was then confirmed that Murray had died . He was just 30 years of age.

Murray opened the 2024 season with an epic playoff victory at the Sony Open in Hawaii. He pulled off a tremendous up and down to card a birdie on the 18th hole of his final round to force a playoff, coming out on top thanks to a 40-foot birdie putt to defeat Byeong Hun An and Keegan Bradley. The American won three consecutive Callaway Junior World Championships (2006-08) and was the best-ranked golfer in his age group before representing Wake Forest University, East Carolina University, and Arizona State University in the collegiate arena. Upon being awarded a sponsor’s exemption for the Korn Ferry Tour event, Murray finished inside the top 10 at the 2016 Rex Hospital Open - a performance that qualified him for the next event. Upon securing another top-10 finish at the BMW Charity Open, Murray’s professional career began to excel.
