It can be disheartening to open up social media apps. We're often bombarded with heavily-filtered pictures of influencers and celebrities who strike poses at fancy events. Then as you're scrolling, you regularly see glamorous snaps of people on holiday.
It can be tricky to avoid comparing yourself to those you see online – but fitness coach Molly Ava aims to help you. Instead of showing her best self on her page, she wants fans to see the real her. The 23-year-old, from Bournemouth, does this by posting " Instagram vs Reality" photos on her profile.
In the first, she strikes a pose and applies filters on top. Then to take her followers back to reality, she relaxes her body for the second pictures. She also resists the urge to edit or retouch the snaps, allowing her natural beauty to shine through.
The body positive influencer captioned the photos: "What you usually see and what you usually don't see. Holiday edition. "At this time of year my social media is filled with lots of pictures like the ones on the left, but what I want to see more of it the true silly goofy lumpy bumpy realness - so here is me sharing mine with you all.
Enjoy." The refreshingly honest post garnered more than 39,000 likes and plenty of positive comments. One fan confessed: "Needed to see this today.
" A second wrote: Thanks for sharing this. You look amazing. Friendly reminder on how ‘polished’ Insta is.
" Another commented: "I honestly prefer the reality because it’s a lot more natural and genu.
