A woman who suffered a double family tragedy decided to make a major change after a "message" from her dad. Tina Pearson, from , recalled the heart-break she suffered after finding her dad had suddenly died as he was "going up the stairs to bed" on Boxing Day in 2017. Two years later she then suffered the horrific tragedy of losing her partner.
The 61-year-old told the ECHO how hard the grieving process was, and how much she struggled with work following the two tragedies. But, one message - on her coffee cup at a café while visiting a UK beauty spot - when she was scattering her dad's ashes changed her life completely. It was Boxing Day 2017, when Tina tragically found her dad dead at home.
She said: "It was sudden, he died as he was going up the stairs to bed. It was very traumatic for me because we were so close. It was awful, we were best friends.
" Before her dad sadly died he battled bowel cancer, which he had got the all clear from. After his battle with the disease Tina reduced her work hours at to spend more time with him, she said: "We were so close." Tina says she "compartmentalised it" and instantly went back to work at the hospital.
Three years later, in June 2020, she suddenly lost her partner. Following his death she was left reflecting on her life, asking herself "where does my future go now?" Despite it "not being the best place" Tina immediately went back to work, while dealing with two lots of sudden grief. She worked for the next 12 months, before taking .
