It has become one of the most recognisable flags at England Euro 2024 matches. The 'Our Mate Jimmy Lockett' flag comes adorned with the crests of England, Stoke City and Leek Town and is easily picked out on our TV screens. It is in memory of James - or Jimmy - from Leek whose death devastated StokeonTrentLive readers in 2020.

The dad-of-two was a serving officer with Greater Manchester Police, a Stoke City fan, a keen fund-raiser for the Dougie Mac, and the founder of Leek TV when he passed away at the age of 45. Nobody was quite sure how he managed to fit it all in. He just loved football whether it was watching England, Stoke City or Leek Town. His death at such a young age is an absolute tragedy.

" Leek Town chairman Jon Eeles said: "Jim was an extremely popular guy with an infectious and enthusiastic personality. Jim was involved in all things good and as well as being a massive football fan he ran a Leek Town Lad.
