The WGC Rotary Club had donated all the kitchen equipment for their house for older students teaching them the skills to live independently. The students themselves had made the tea: delicious sandwiches, fairy cakes, brownies and the like. Some items were dairy free, too.
They chatted about trips out to Shepreth Zoo, Southend and to the local swimming pool. It was wonderful to know that all the kitchen equipment was being used almost daily to help these challenged young people with learn to cook. On a purely social note Rotarians were also spotted tasting beer.
The beer imbibers included Rotary President Paul Coley and Assistant Governor Kendal Pitt alongside the local fellows of WGC club under the watchful eye of organiser Andy Forrow. Andy is one of the club’s most enthusiastic members and really demonstrates what Rotary can bring to an active, fulfilling life. Coming up next month is 'Jazz on the Island', a charity picnic concert taking place on Saturday, July 6 at 7pm at 13 Lemsford Village, WGC AL8 7TN.
All monies raised on this occasion will go not only to our Rotary charities but in particular to Hertfordshire Admiral Nurses. Tickets are £15 each available from [email protected].
