A TikTok video has attracted millions of new fans to an Anglesey beach. The video, posted by a hiking influencer, garnered 3.8 million views in June alone and has put online fans on to Treath Llanddwyn beach, with the author of the clip describing the sandy shores backed by pine trees and the view of Eryri as so magical that she "couldn't believe this was in the UK".
Fans were drawn not only by the picturesque location, sacred eels or romantic surroundings of Llanddwyn but its claim to fame as the site for Netflix hit teen TV show Free Rein - a coming-of-age drama about an American teenager, Zoe, spending her summer in the British countryside. The Emmy-winning series gained a major cult following over its three seasons. Intriguingly, Llanddwyn beach is famous for its wild ponies, which have been spotted wandering past sunbathers on the beach.
These small Carneddau ponies contribute to preserving local habitats by grazing on the whispy grasses, reports North Wales Live . The beach was also used for key scenes in the second series of House of the Dragon.
