Al Hilal finished their season on a high after sealing the second King Cup of Champions title in a row, clinching their third title of the season after winning the Saudi Super Cup and the Saudi Pro League. New Delhi: Al Hilal won the King Cup of Champions, edging past Al Nassr 5-4 on penalties in the final on Friday at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah. The title is Al Hilal’s second in succession as they also secured their third title of the season, completing a treble after winning the Saudi Super Cup and the Saudi Pro League.

Sadio Mane had a big opportunity early into the game when he was played through on goal by Ayman Yahya in the sixth minute. His strike however went high and a minute later, Aleksander Mitrovic scored the opener for Hilal by heading in a cross from the left side of the six-yard box after receiving a beautiful cross from Malcom. Although Al Nassr dominated the game for the rest of the half, they were kept at bay by Al Hilal’s Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, who made some fantastic saves in the closing stages of the half.



Al Nassr maintained dominance in the second half as well but still couldn’t find the net. Cristiano Ronaldo even attempted a bicycle kick but it struck the right post, just two minutes after the restart. Al Nassr saw a few of its players heading back to the dugout after receiving cards.
