If this rings true, it's high time to add it to your summer bucket list, as this is the world's highest aqueduct - and it's definitely worth a visit. Tucked away in the hills of Dee Valley - a designated area of outstanding natural beauty - the awe-inspiring structure known as Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (or Traphont Ddwr Pontcysyllte in Welsh) might seem like it's in the middle of nowhere, but it could be closer than you think.

Particularly if you reside in the north of England where it's easy to overlook the stunning Welsh landmarks, villages and landscapes right on your doorstep. From Liverpool or Crewe, it's merely an hour's drive away, and there's even a car park when you arrive, so no need to fret about parking your car on a twisty country road. Alternatively, you could hop on a train which takes an hour and three quarters, with just one change in Chester.

The surrounding areas, like Chester, are only a half-hour drive away, reports Wales Online . According to the World Heritage Site, there are mainline train stations at Chirk and Ruabon, where you can catch a bus.
