A Victorian sporting community is in pain following the death of local icon Nick Mustafa. The Templestowe football and cricket clubs have come together to mourn the 26-year-old who was a devoted member of both clubs. Templestowe Football Club president Russell Smith released a statement on behalf of the entire sporting community.

“Thank you for the wonderful memories and our heartfelt condolences go out to all the family. “I’ll miss you mate but our club will miss you more. You were one of the good guys.

” Mustafa played juniors at Doncaster and Warrandyte Doncaster Heights before arriving at Templestowe as a senior player. He played eight games in the club’s reserves this year, lacing the boots up as recently as last Saturday week, before the King’s Birthday long weekend. Mustafa was also a committed coach at the cricket club, where he is being remembered as the “king of the kids”.
