A UK seaside town often deemed as outdated and dilapidated, might pleasantly surprise visitors with its plethora of attractions. Despite being characterised as an atypical holiday destination by the sea, research from Which? in 2023 placed Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, among the bottom 10 seaside towns to visit in the UK, earning it an average score of 55%. While 'beaches' were positively rated, the categories of 'scenery' and 'peace and quiet' each managed to scrape together a single star.

One particularly harsh TripAdvisor review came from a visitor who said: "[We] were absolutely horrified by the city. We had to read about its past as an important oily fish port and the beautiful seafront, but the Victorian houses at the port are [hidden] by those horrible leisure centres full of neons, fluorescent colours and junk food everywhere." However, discounting these negative views, it is undeniable that a day trip or coastal getaway to Great Yarmouth has much to offer.
