You could be forgiven for passing The New Adelphi Club on De Grey Street and mistaking it for a house if you're not paying attention. But take a trip inside and you'll witness a club that has been the beating heart for live music for generations of local talent. And it's seen some greats throughout its history.
The likes of Oasis, Stone Roses, Radiohead and Pulp have all stood on the stage and shown Hull what music is all about. More recently, 2024 is proving to be quite a momentous year for the club. In February, they hit a milestone 2000th weekly free gig night - making it " probably the longest-running weekly music night " in the UK, at the very least.

So, in need of a Monday night pick-me-up, I headed down to the famed venue for myself. With doors opening at 8.
00pm and first acts just half an hour later, Monday Musicians Night means anyone with confidence can get on stage. I recently went to Adelphi for one of the biggest names to appear through its doors in recent time - Tom Meighan . While that night was tight, compact and sweaty, this Monday night had a lot more zen and chill to it, so much so I actually had the opportunity to take a candle-lit seat.
