Forecast charts show some cooler air heading to the UK on June 5 (Image: WXCharts ) Millions of us will be looking forward to summer officially starting next month but the Great British weather still has some surprises in store with a very wintry -3C on the way for some parts of the UK. In the first week of June parts of northern England and Scotland will feel more like February with maps from WXCharts showing bands of frosty blue low temperatures arriving. Newcastle, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and The Highlands could see the mercury barely able to reach above freezing for most of the day on June 5, but the south and west of the country should remain milder.

According to the Met Office summer in the meteorological calendar covers the duration of June, July and August, or by the astronomical calendar it begins around 21 June on a day referred to as the summer solstice. function loadOvpScript(){let el=document.createElement('script');el.
