A survey of 2,000 adults has unveiled the UK's top staycation spots, with the southwest hotspot taking the lead due to its stunning beaches, charming villages and breathtaking landscapes. Other popular destinations for 2024 include the Scottish Highlands, Devon and Yorkshire. North Wales, Cumbria and the Isle of Wight were also named as desirable locations for a UK visit.
The research, conducted by Sykes Holiday Cottages for its annual , found that 77% of respondents plan to take at least one domestic holiday this year. Furthermore, the holiday home rental company discovered that the average Brit will embark on three UK breaks in 2024. Graham Donoghue, CEO of Sykes Holiday Cottages, said: "Getaways in the UK offer a perfect blend of experience, convenience and affordability, making them an excellent choice for people looking to explore and enjoy the beauty of their own country - whether over week-long holidays or long weekend trips.
" "We are hoping for another bumper summer for UK travel, with ever-popular destinations such as Cornwall and the Scottish Highlands continuing to lure in visitors." The study also revealed that more than four in 10 (42%) are planning a staycation for their main holiday instead of jetting off abroad. The agency's Index has highlighted a trend towards more frequent, shorter getaways, with bookings for short breaks up by 44 per cent.
OnePoll.com research backs this up, revealing that 35% of people prefer these to fewer, longer holidays. The top reaso.
