A survey of 1,000 adults who suffer from spots and acne has revealed that 21% can be affected by their skin for more than two weeks in a month, with as many as 29% stating their acne is severe. Furthermore, 44% confessed to lacking confidence due to their skin's appearance, while 18% said it often or always impacts their mental health. Wrinkles are another concern for exactly half of the respondents, and 44% are frequently troubled by blackheads and whiteheads.
Dr Sonia Khorana, GP and dermatology expert for Hero Cosmetics' Mighty Patch , which commissioned the research, commented: "Having bad skin can really affect you, your confidence can take a huge hit and it can be incredibly isolating at times. It's not just the physical symptoms but the emotional and psychological impact that can be overwhelming. That's why it's so important to provide a solution that can help people get control of their skin when they feel the control is out of their hands.
This can help people fight back on their skin issues and be in a position where they no longer need to cover up or hide away and miss out on life." The study also discovered that 39% have a beauty regime they religiously follow every day. However, almost three in 10 (29%) like to switch up their skincare routine and the products they use every few months.
On a day when their skin isn't looking its best, 19% of people will dodge having their photo taken, 9% have feigned a faulty camera during a video call and 6% have even called in .
