Let me begin by saying I do not have a solution to the problem. Its causes are complex and any solutions are complicated. I am referring here to one of today’s major concerns homelessness.
However, one approach to creating greater awareness on a global level recently came to my attention. The CEO and I were browsing through movie selections on a “streaming” service — in today’s world we have to pay for streams — when a title caught my eye. It was “The Beautiful Game.
” I immediately looked for the synopsis, thinking basketball from the title but when I discovered it was a British-focused film I knew it was about soccer. Sorry, football. Actually, that sport deserves the name football more than our American game because the feet play a bigger role in soccer than they do in football (especially since the dropkick went away).
Intrigued by the title, I thought the movie might be more interesting than watching a soccer/football game. I know little about the game but I find watching a 1-0 game about as interesting as a 7-0 game in American football. I’ll probably receive some feedback on this but it is an opinion.
The focus of the film was on a British team preparing for the Homeless World Cup. Now it had my attention. I am aware of many international sports competitions.
I once wrote about Elephant Polo in India but had never heard of the Homeless World Cup, only the much more publicized Women and Men’s World Cups. Let me discuss its background. In 2001, Harald .
