More info A set of triplets believed to be the first to graduate all together at the same university with first-class honours have said the moment was “bittersweet” after the loss of their father. Anna, John and Josh Pizzuto-Pomaco, 22, are originally from New Jersey in the US, but they relocated to Scotland in 2020 with their family where they began studying at the University of Aberdeen. The trio graduated with first-class honours in their respective four-year degrees on Tuesday after overcoming the hurdles of the Covid-19 pandemic and the death of their father, Joe, who died at the age of 57 from motor neurone disease (MND) in 2022.
“A lot of people think it’s quite strange because you don’t see it very often, but for the three of us, it’s very much business as usual,” Josh, who studied theology and politics, told the PA news agency. “Moving forward, it’s very much going to be a parting of the ways and moving on and doing our own things, so this is the last big thing we get to do all together.” Josh said the siblings had a “perfect day” and got a “shout-out” from the presiding officer.
