A EUROPEAN hotspot has revealed they are scrapping entrance fees to at least 38 popular tourist attractions. However, sadly, the free entry won't apply to tourists - you have to be a resident or a national. Those living in the European hotspot will be entitled to 52 free entries into any site managed by the Museums and Monuments of Portugal.
The scheme is set to begin soon and locals will be able to apply on their phones. The announcement was made at the National Museum in Viseu on May 18 to celebrate International Museum Day. Portuguese residents can now visit up to 16 national heritage sites included in the scheme for free.
Astonishingly, one in five Brits have never been to an art gallery because they're too " posh " to visit. A survey of 2,000 adults found 29 per cent were worried they would find it boring while 14 per cent thought they would struggle to understand the art they are looking at. Most read in Travel.
