In less than two weeks, the 26th annual Nebraska Cattlemen's Ball will kick-off in Scotts Bluff County, placing the spotlight on Schiff Farms near Minatare. The event serves a double purpose in that it showcases Nebraska's beef industry in different parts of the state each year and at the same time raises money to benefit the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center in Omaha. For procrastinators, the good news is there are still a limited number of Top Hand tickets available for the June 7-8 event.

While the original cut off date for sales was May 1, Cattlemen's Ball executive secretary Suzanne Jagels said they have extended sales for a few more days in advance of the ball. Check the ticket link on the Cattlemen's Ball website, cattlemensball.com or visit Platte Valley Bank in Scottsbluff, 1212 Circle Drive, to purchase tickets in person.



Preparations have been going well, Jagels said. "I have a few more last-minute calls with our committees and then we move on to the setup of tents at the ball site," she said. Hosts Scott and Kristin Schiff have spent nearly every spare minute the last two years preparing for the ball.

They and their family chose to host the event because they believe in the mission to raise funds for cancer research. Having lost both grandparents, family and friends to cancer, a disease that affects one in four people. Scott Schiff leads Schiff of Nebraska, a family-owned agricultural enterprise.
