Three women, each with a unique talent, are pooling their skillsets for one night of a super show called “Tingsy” – a playful look at all things Bahamian. Dyah Neilson is the artist whose work will be featured. Brooke Pyfrom is the entrepreneur behind natural lifestyle furniture and home décor.

Natascha Vasquez is an artist and gallery owner. The common thread that links Neilson, Pyfrom, and Vasquez, three creatives under 40 is a connection to the earth and sea, to the physical environment that, along with our social and cultural surroundings, makes us who we are and keeps us grounded,” said Neilson. “Tingsy” is a playful take on a colloquial term meaning someone who likes things or ‘tings’ in Bahamian dialect.

While it carries a lighthearted name, the show has color, rich texture and depth, taking a lively, finely-honed look at everyday living beings intertwined with the material world of a local domestic setting. Leaves feel as full of life as the birds that nestle in their branches. A hibiscus rests comfortably against a woven straw basket.

The painting of everyday things or ‘tings’ draws the eyes and commands a smile. “Tingsy” opens at CAB Gallery, South Ocean Boulevard, on Friday, June 28, between 6 p.m.

and 8 p.m. The showing reopens after the gallery returns from a brief summer break August 1, remaining the featured exhibit until month end.

Also featured will be a small installation of unique pieces from Oasis Furniture and décor boutique wh.
