Thousands of people are waiting to get the chance to swim in a beautiful wild swimming spot in north Bristol. Despite being only three miles from the city centre, Henleaze Lake's visitors can enjoy a secluded former quarry setting surrounded by lawns and trees. The lake is kitted out with a springboard and two fixed diving boards.

And there's a sauna on site for users to warm up after their swim. Henleaze Lake is owned and managed by Henleaze Swimming Club. The club is a charity company which strives to provide Bristolians and those from the surrounding areas with a space to exercise and enjoy open water swimming.

The beautiful setting has been used by film crews for popular television programmes, including BBC's Countryfile. But wait list registration is closed for 2024 and 2,000 swimming hopefuls are already waiting for a place.
