Thousands of people walk down Cardiff's Queen Street or St John Street every day. Some of them may even pop into the Burger King on the corner for a quick bite. But it's almost guaranteed that most of them have no idea of the incredible history that lies above the seemingly normal fast food restaurant.

After all, from the outside it looks like any other Burger King, and even once inside there's no clues to its rich history. But should you bypass the Whoppers and chips and find your way to an area marked staff only, you'll find yourself in one of the oldest rooms in Cardiff. While these days the decisions made in this building are mainly around what lunch option to have, some 300 years ago it was the place where ideas which had the possibility to change the city were formed.
