Dorking is a hotspot for natural beauty and glorious nature walks. Surrounded by the hills and slopes of the North Downs, you’re spoilt for choice for places to go for an adventure. I love a long hike, Leith Hill has to be one of my favourite places for a refreshing day out in the countryside.
Box Hill is another amazing place to visit, it’s probably one of Surrey’s most famous spots for walking and cycling. However, sometimes you just don’t feel like traipsing on an 11-kilometre stroll. For little children and toddlers, it might be a bit too far to go walking.

My boyfriend, Owen, and I decided to take a brisk walk , instead of heading to the summit of Box Hill, as our dog, Rupert, is still too young to take on huge hikes, especially in the hot weather. Stepping Stones walk at the base of the hill, is a great alternative, with an amazing vistas of the escarpment, shady woodlands and lush meadows.
The best part is, of course, the stepping stones crossing the River Mole. It was a bit tricky to get parked up, and we did have to wait for a space. However, the wait in the small car park was worth it.
