The sandy shores of Caister-on-Sea Beach (Image: David Street) Norfolk offers no shortage of excellent beaches - many of which are easily reachable from Cambridgeshire . One village, just outside Great Yarmouth, offers a much quieter and relaxing day with some historical sites to see too. Caister-on-Sea is a large village just outside of the seaside resort Great Yarmouth.

A roughly one hour and 45 minute drive from Cambridge , it is far smaller than its neighbour, offering a breath of fresh air beside the bustle of Yarmouth. As well as a pretty sandy beach and a village filled with shops and pubs, Caister also two historical attractions, one of which has one of the biggest privately owned motor vehicle collections in the UK. Easily accessed from the car park adjacent to the Lifeboat Station, the beach is easily accessible and is ideal for families who want some quiet time. There is plenty of space for sunbathing and its also the perfect place to enjoy a swim. You might even be lucky enough to spot some seals bobbing their heads in the water.
