We took a stroll through the village and found some real gems Just half an hour down the motorway from Birmingham, Wootton Wawen is a little village full of history and surprises. We visited on a sunny day and had a great time getting in touch with the past, shopping from local makers in a retail village and enjoying the natural beauty. As well as a pretty little chapel in the Roman Catholic cemetery, there's the oldest church in , St Peter's.
They call this the Saxon Sanctuary, given part of it dates back to at least the year 900! There's an exhibition there to tell you all about the history so you can learn more not just about the building, but the village of Wootton Wawen and how it's changed over the years. A really nice surprise. Take a look at some of our photos from the village here.
It's another one that's best seen in real life though! The Roman Catholic cemetery in Wootton Wawen The weir in Wootton Wawen Wootton Wawen A little church in Wootton Wawen The stained glass in St Peter's church Inside the Urban Village vintage shop in Hampton-in-Arden.
