From the joys of shopping local to sampling an array of delicious artisan treats - farmers markets are always worth the trip. And close to Surrey is one that reviewers say has "Britain's best cheese". Twickenham Farmers' Market is open every week come rain or shine and is one of London's longest established markets.

It's been praised for its warm welcome and being a place where traders and shoppers are friends and neighbours. Although not all stallholders attend every week, the market's offerings usually include organic eggs and meat from Lee House Farm, Manor Farm vegetables, Laycroft free range poultry and rare breed meats from March House Farm. You'll also find pasta, bread, cakes and pies - and an array of cheese.
