The annual ‘Pets of theYear’ calendar competition is back, and SPCA is invitingcat and dog owners across the country to submit their bestpet photos. The stars of these photos will feature inSPCA’s 2025 calendars.

It’s the opportunityevery pet parent dreams of, but SPCA’s ‘Pets of theYear’ competition is also a vital source of funding forthe animal welfare charity. Funds raised help supportSPCA’s lifesaving work for animals in need, providingmuch-needed medication and surgery, covering the cost ofcare while vulnerable animals recover, and so muchmore. SPCA CEO Todd Westwood is delighted to see thecompetition return for another year.



“Ourcore focus at SPCA is on abused, abandoned, and neglectedanimals, so nothing brings more joy than seeing the polaropposite of that with our ‘Pets of the Year’competition,” he says. “We get to see themost beloved animals in their homes where they are adoredwhich is what we want for every cat and dog and companionanimal in New Zealand.” The 2024 competitionsees smartphone provider OPPO return to sponsor the event,offering incredible prizes for winners including top of therange OPPO Reno Series smartphone.
