It’s a beautiful, sunny day in Jamestown when Jamestown’s Terry and Linda Schwartz gather with Brian and Kathy Tebelius of Bowdon to sing as “The Homesteaders.’’ The quartet will be on the lawn at the Historic 1883 Stutsman County Courthouse on Saturday, June 8, at 1 p.m.
Bring a lawn chair and sit back or even do a bit of toe-tapping as you enjoy a couple of hours of crooning, cowboy style. Known throughout North Dakota for their comforting melodies and hometown selections, “Schwartz and friends” put smiles across the faces of their audiences for many years, playing a variety of country, bluegrass, gospel and Americana. Terry has written several songs of his own and will throw in some cowboy poetry.
Having known the Schwartzes for most of my 30-plus years here in Jamestown, it’s always a treasured moment when they are in town giving a concert. Terry is a hoot. He’s just plain out funny and will give you something to think about while you’re enjoying his and Linda’s outstanding vocals.
Having had Linda as a student in art at Jamestown College, the talents she shows are but a drop in that proverbial bucket. Both possess talents way beyond the obvious. But what is obvious is wonderful and heartwarming entertainment.
