The Giant Co., in partnership with Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, has launched its 2024 Heal the Planet grant program. This year’s program will award $100,000 in grants to projects related to native tree plantings.
The grants will be awarded to tax-exempt organizations across Giant’s operating areas in Pennsylvania. Eligible projects must be shovel ready with any required permits already secured, and include tree planting and direct costs related to tree planting. All trees planted must be native to Pennsylvania.
“The benefits of a healthy tree canopy are numerous, from absorbing carbon pollution and watershed protection to improving the quality of the air we breathe,” Courtney Hopcraft, Giant’s manager of charitable giving and community relations, said in a statement. “We’re excited to team up with Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful again this year to increase the number of trees across Pennsylvania and create greener, healthier communities in the commonwealth.” Applications for the program are being accepted only through 4 p.
m. July 1 via the Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful website. Applications will be accepted for grants in amounts up to $4,000.
Applicants can be any tax-exempt organization including nonprofits, conservation districts, schools, churches, local county governments, etc., according to the application website. Applications must have prior successful tree planting experience.
