As live sporting action is being brought to the heart of the city the weekend, with big screens set up at Euros fan zones in Times Square and NX Newcastle, an annual event is also getting in on the act. NE1 Ltd's Screen on the Green is back and will be joining in the mood by showing Wimbledon and the Silverstone grand prix too. And it soon will be following with the launch of its free film programme.
The big screen is set up, as usual, in Newcastle 's Old Eldon Square where deckchairs are laid out for people to use on a first-come, first-served basis. Screen on the Green is part of the business improvement company's Summer in the City programme and this year it will feature around 100 films over its July 20 to September 1 run.
