Award-winning TV chef Jamie Oliver has revealed the Essex restaurants he loves to visit that are in a rural town where the food scene is "kicking off". Jamie Oliver, who lives in Essex, praised the town's "new generation of young grafters" who are part of the foodie community. Jamie, 49, was speaking exclusively to EssexLive after opening a brand new garden at Great Bradfords Junior School in Braintree - close to Finchingfield where he now lives.
The garden, built by LEX Building Services and sponsored by publishers Puffin, was opened as part of the National Literacy Trust's World of Stories Programme and part of Jamie's launch for the book Billy and the Epic Escape. Essex-born Jamie is best known for his casual approach to cuisine and encouraging children to eat healthily - a campaign that was backed by the Government. He was born and raised in Clavering, where his parents ran a pub-restaurant, and it was the nearby town of Saffron Walden that Jamie referred to when revealing his favourite places to eat.
