The dynamic fusion of Ross Capili andRico Lascano for Gallery C's 'Interchange'

Two prominent local artists, Ross Capili and Rico Lascano, team up for a two-man show for Conrad Manila's "Of Art and Wine" 30th series entitled "Interchange."Currently exhibiting at the hotel's Gallery C, Interchange presents the artists' reflections on the shifting dynamics of nature and the enduring sense of wonder it evokes through 32 new art pieces.Conrad Manila is proud to unveil the newest major works of two prominent and respected artists, as part of our ongoing commitment to promote Philippine arts and culture. His passion for music can be seen in his brushstrokes, which depict the rhythm of rain and wind, as well as the vibrant crescendo of colors in bloom.His signature metallic orb hovers on canvas, symbolizing the presence of the sun and moon overseeing this eternal and universal harmony."This is my third stint here at Conrad Manila's Gallery C. Thank you for your trust. It's a remarkable experience being here. Conrad Manila gives utmost importance to the space, the pieces displayed, and the guests," Capili said in his speech. Lascano’s ‘Quietude XVI,’ 4ft x 5 ft, mixed media on canvas Lascano’s ‘Quietude XI,’ 22 in x 30 in, mixed media on 140lb cold press strathmore paper "This exhibition is about nature — that's our inspiration. But it's more than that. We have a message that we poured into the artworks. From a distance, it might look like just a picture, but if you look closely, it's much more. We want you to feel disturbed. Nature should not be ignored. You have to respect nature, especially given what's happening around us. It is meant to disturb you while you enjoy the art pieces," he added.Meanwhile, Lascano is renowned for his Zen-themed artistry. He perceives nature as serene and tranquil, inviting internal reflection and deep contemplation.In this exhibit, water, sky and wind are depicted with a renewed and intimate vision — quiet, still and misty, devoid of color yet suffused with light.Lascano's Zenscapes beckons the viewer into a meditative repose, with spare compositions, muted layering of hues, and delicate brushstrokes exemplifying his intuitive interpretation that nature is inherently spiritual. This is in contrast with Ross' beautiful and colorful, complex yet lyrical imagery. Although we both have different art practices, we share something in common and that is nature. Our works are influenced and inspired by nature because nature has always been bountiful and reflective inspiration for artists. So, I hope you renew your deeper connection with nature," Lascano shared.Formally opening the exhibit were special guests SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation President Elizabeth Sy; SM Hotels and Conventions Corporation Executive Vice President Peggy Angeles; and guest of honor Nelson Guevarra, president of PG-FLEX Premium Plastic Group, Chairman of Moto-italia Philippines Inc. Andalso currently the Board Member and Treasurer of Federation Of Filipino Chinese Chambers Of Commerce & Industry, Inc.The "Interchange" exhibit at the Conrad Manila, Gallery C, 3rd floor, is currently open until August 3.
