A POPULAR cafe will officially open a new branch inside a city museum next month. Little Al's Kitchen, which has branches across Worcestershire, will open its doors inside The Commandery on Tuesday, July 2. This is not the first time Alex Daw has opened a café in a historic building after running the Balcony Café at Worcester’s Art Gallery & Museum and Little Al's Cafe at The Firs in Lower Broadheath .
Mr Daw was also recently spotted marking the occasion with his very own English Civil War outfit, which pays homage to the museum. “We are so excited to be building on our current partnership with Museums Worcestershire by taking on the café at The Commandery," said Mr Daw. "We’ll be serving homemade cakes and treats and our fantastic locally roasted own-blend coffee, and we’ll also be developing a whole new menu based around local suppliers to bring the best of Worcestershire to the heart of the city.
"We can’t wait to welcome familiar faces and new customers.” He added the business prides itself on being environmentally friendly, and it won the Visit Worcestershire Sustainable Tourism award last year. The Commandery is one of the city’s key visitor attractions, as the building was used as the Royalist Headquarters during the Battle of Worcester in 1651.
It housed the Littlebury Printworks before becoming today’s museum, revealing significant stories of Worcester’s history. The café will be in the museum's gardens overlooking the canal and just a shor.
