A hidden gem in Sardinia has been hailed as one of Europe's best kept secret beaches. The Sinis peninsula, located on the west coast of Sardinia, is renowned for its stunning coastline. However, Travel + Leisure has pinpointed "the best spot" just outside the village of San Giovanni di Sinis.

The travel site describes: "Located a quick stumble across the dunes from some bar shacks, this gem sits dramatically in the shadow of the ruined Roman citadel of Tharros." The Sinis peninsula, part of the Oristano region and less famous than other areas of the island, is surrounded by a protected marine area. It boasts historic sites such as the ancient villages of Tharros and Cuccuru is Arrius, and offers hiking and kayaking opportunities.
