Pod or Espresso machine? Nespresso, Smeg or Sage? Do you need a built-in grinder? Where to even begin? Espresso machines start from £50, but start getting better around the £130 mark. Pod coffee machines use a pre-portioned capsule of espresso and tend to be cheaper – however, you do have to factor in the cost of buying replacement pods, and the potential environmental impact of disposing of them (although many are now recyclable and compostable).
