A teenager who lost her hand in a terrifying was on her it has been revealed. Lulu Gribbin, 15, was attacked on a beach and lost part of her leg as well as a hand. Another teen from Alabama, McCray Faust, 17, was also bitten on the foot during the in Destin.

Ann Blair Gribbin, Lulu's mother, revealed that it was her daughter's first trip to the beach. The Gribbins were on their "first mother-daughter beach trip" along with some family friends. Soon after they arrived, word spread about a in the water.



Lulu's twin sister, Ellie, ran to alert her about the ongoing attack. Elisabeth Foley, 45, another victim, had been attacked just 90 minutes earlier while swimming with her husband four miles away. The shark bit into her midsection, causing "significant trauma" and necessitating the amputation of her left arm.

Ann Blair Gribbin, Lulu's mom, recounted: "I saw her wounds on her leg and started to scream. She was lifeless her eyes closed mouth white and pale. The wound on her leg or all that was left of her leg was something out of a movie.

I finally made it back to her and held her hand and she saw me, and I told her I was there." Two vacationing doctors were nearby during the incident and provided crucial medical assistance until an ambulance arrived. Lulu was then airlifted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, which is approximately an hour and 20 minutes away by car.

As of Saturday, the 15-year-old's condition has improved and she has made the "first big step" towards recover.
