TEDDY Swims has said Dublin holds a special place in his heart due to a family connection. The Lose Control singer was in the capital for his show at the 3Olympia earlier this week. But it is his fourth time here in recent years.

He said: “One thing that makes this place so special to me is my uncle Dewy, who was like my hero, also a singer, a guitarist. "He had passed away when I played my first show out here and he’d always told me I’d love this place if I came here. "So the first time I ever came here, I put up a Guinness to him when he passed away and everybody did it with me.

"It always feels like his spirit’s always here and I just get some level of love here that I just don’t get anywhere else. And there’s a level of energy. I think there’s some Irish in my blood too.

” Not only did the American star perform at the Olympia, but he also popped into the bar O’Fegans on Fade Street for an impromptu performance. He said the Irish crowds “are a wild bunch” but added they “are such a loving, hospitable people.” Teddy told FM104 he loves the city but he has “not been fortunate enough” to see any of the rest of the country.

“When you think of Ireland, you think of rolling hills and green. It’s a beautiful place but for four years I’ve only been to Dublin. "I really want to go and see the rest of it.

” His debut album I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy came out late last year in the US, and Teddy recently said he is grateful his breakthrough.
