Kim Price, born and bred in Taunton, will open Be. Laser & Skin Clinic at 1 The Crescent this week for a "soft launch" after the business outgrew her home studio. In 2021 Kim and her husband "took a punt" by remortgaging their house to purchase a "very, very expensive" first laser and building a treatment room in an outbuilding which Kim intended to run part-time.
The qualified laser specialist, who is a member of the British Medical Laser Association, said: "I didn't know where it was going to go, but my husband built me a beautiful cabin in the back garden and it really took off. "I was quite surprised how many people are affected by unwanted hair, 60% of my clients have some sort of hormone imbalance. "It's a bit of a cliché or taboo that people go for hair removal because they can't be bothered to shave, or that it hurts, but it has opened my eyes to how it can help people who struggle with their mental health or confidence.
" Kim added: "I get a lot of transgender people, and those with polycystic ovaries, or low confidence due to rashes, shaving marks, bumps, soreness and NHS doesn't help with this sort of stuff, but laser is incredible. That made me fall in love with it even more." Kim said: "I was initially thinking it would be a part-time post alongside my regular job, but after being made redundant I took the leap with the support of family and friends to venture into all things laser full-time.
"After my many years of training, I've obtained the highest qualificat.
