The Paul Jadro Memorial Bass Tournament completed its 30th annual tournament, with their 16U youth angler and team tournament this past Saturday at Ruth Lake with Cory and Abby Sutton taking home first place with their five bass weighing 20.94 pounds to secure the win in the youth angler division. 24 more than the second place finishers, Zach and Shannon Zerlang, but that slim margin of victory is not too much of a rarity according to Tournament Director Lon Winburn. “That’s not uncommon at all, that actually happens a lot,” Winburn said of the close contest. “You’ll have less than an ounce quite often that separates first and second or third and fourth.
” Winburn helped originate the tournament 30 years back with his former fire captain, David Ansley, the tournament was often hosted on Paul Jadro’s property out on Ruth Lake, with Jadro also being an assistant fire chief, and after Jadro passed away in 2011 the tournament was renamed in his honor for his hospitality. The tournament is for more than just for the youth anglers, with adults being able to participate in the team section of the tournament. The Sutton’s father, Cory Sutton (who participated in the tournament years ago as a youth angler himself), hauled in the largest bass of the tournament at 5.
