Brighton and Hove has long been a popular family staycation location, but in recent years it has become the ideal destination for a family getaway. Ten years ago, when I first started visited the East Sussex seaside city, it had become the unlikely centre of the UK's Youtube scene, filled with hoards of pre-teen fans hoping to bump into one of many British YouTubers who lived there. From lifestyle content creators turned YouTube couple, Zoe Sugg (formerly known as Zoella) and Alfie Deyes, to one of the platforms most famous stars - PewDiePie (Felix Kjellberg) - Brighton has been and still is home to more than its fair share of video creators.
Whether it was its proximity and access to London that aided the number of YouTubers choosing to settle in the seaside resort, or easy access to one of the best piers in the country, it is unclear. However, one thing is certain — Brighton is a beautiful and quintessentially British seaside break with everything to offer including activities, access to nature, great accommodation and, of course, superb fish and chips. Here is my rundown of the best Brighton has to offer.
One of the most famous elements of Brighton is its piers. Whilst the West Pier has nothing left but some of its framework, the other in the city is still fully operational. The West Pier originally opened in 1866 and it was the first pier to be listed as a Grade I status in England.
However, it closed to the public in 1975 and today, only remnants of the structure still.
