A kite surfer stranded on a Northern California beach was , according to authorities. The man found himself trapped on a narrow beach at the base of towering bluffs as the tide rolled in, reported the Department of Forestry and Fire Protection's Santa Cruz unit. A private helicopter spotted his distress signal and alerted the authorities, Cal Fire said in social media posts, describing the beach as somewhat remote with difficult access.

Assisted by the Santa Cruz County Fire Department and the State Parks Department, a rescue helicopter lifted the kite surfer to the top of the cliff. The man, whose identity has not been disclosed, did not require , stated Cal Fire. This stretch of coast is approximately 65 miles south of .



In a Facebook post, Cal Fire said: "A kite surfer was rescued off a beach south of Davenport Landing after being stranded. He used rocks on the beach to spell out the word 'HELP'. "He was spotted by a private helicopter who then called 911.
