STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Our Staten Island neighbors on the North Shore and beyond are seeing pink lately, thanks to the newly painted facade of a Westerleigh home, created by Christina Harmon, 29.

The creation of the very pink, life-sized ”Barbie Dream House” — located on Hodges Place in Westerleigh — was a labor of love for Harmon to honor her dad, David Harmon, who died of cancer January 2021, “and everything he did for her,” according to her mom, Christine Urcinoli, with whom she shares the home. “My husband, David, was an incredible person,” she said. “He did two tours of Vietnam and was honorably discharged.

When Christina was little, he bought her a Barbie Dream House toy, in the same colors Christina used for the the front of the house. She painted it all by herself over a few months and I think she did a great job. “She deserves all the recognition for what she’s done and what she intended, which is to bring smiles to people’s faces.

People are coming from Brooklyn and all over to see her work and with everything that’s going on with the world today, it brings everyone happiness. We both went through a lot, caring for her father [as he was battling cancer].” No detail was left unturned in the creation of the “Barbie Dream House,” including Tiffany-blue accents on the door and window moldings, a Barbie plaque to the left of the front door, colorful, gem-colored stones in the front garden, and bright pink steps and railings leading up to .
