Bob Dylan’s epic “Forever Young” came out a good 35 years before each of the St. Patrick-St. Vincent High School Class of 2024 students were born.

Heck, the majority of their parents weren’t even alive. However, the school choir’s choice of the legendary song Saturday morning resonated with the graduating students, sending them out into the world hoping to grow up righteous and true, while knowing the truth and seeing the light surrounding them. Eighty four students celebrated the culmination of four hard years of high school, a journey that began during the pandemic and ended with family, friends and teachers offering congratulations and continued success.



Of the students graduating, 99 percent of them have chosen to continue their education in college, with 54 percent heading to four-year schools, according to Assistant Principal Lisa Gabriel. St. Pat’s Head of School Nora Rodgers said she recently went to Seattle University, where she saw a mural that made her think of the St.

Pat’s class of 2024. “The mural I saw said, ‘Go forth and set the world on fire,'” Rodgers said. “This is what I challenge each of you to do.

The sparks in each of you are as unique as you are. Some are flashy, some are subdued. But they are capable of setting the world on fire.

” Meanwhile, co-valedictorian Amanda Lo said to go forth and bring another word with them — “Love.” “Wherever you go in life, bring love,” Lo said. “You have to plan to love.
