With no opponent in the 2024 mayoral election, Fremont incumbent Mayor Joey Spellerberg is almost guaranteed to be reelected to another four-year term leading his hometown into the future. Spellerberg took some time from his busy schedule — which includes helping care for his newborn son — to talk about his goals for the next four years and what he envisions for Fremont as the city grows both residentially and with new businesses. “Well, number one, it’s an honor to serve as mayor.

This is a honor of a lifetime. It is my hometown. I don’t take it for granted, and I go out and I work as hard as I can to see our community forward and that will continue to be my priority,” Spellerberg said in the June 3 interview.



”In the next term, we have, we have a lot of projects to complete over the next five years. Our public safety facilities are number one. Upgrading our police station and also our fire station.

I think looking to the future though, that’s a huge priority, continue to be fiscally responsible and we have to manage our tax dollars.” Spellerberg said being a good steward of the taxpayer’s money and revenue that the city brings in is a critical goal of both himself and the city council, stating that the city needs to, “manage our spending, control our spending and managing our finances will continue to be a priority.” One area of growth for the city Spellerberg has focused on in his first term as mayor has been quality of life, and he said working wit.
