A local broadband communications provider made a beautiful day for two nonprofits in Stephens County. Through its Charitable Giving Fund, Sparklight awarded $5,000 to the Beautiful Day Foundation and $1,500 to the Douglass Community Center. Both organizations were among 26 nonprofits throughout Sparklight’s 24-state footprint who received grants of more than $125,000 during the award period.
Kindred Community, an initiative of Beautiful Day, which launched in 2014, will receive the provided funds to help the organization connect with the widows in the community. Beautiful Day Foundation Executive Director Kelsey Roberts said the foundation is thrilled to receive the grant from Sparklight. “This award will help us continue the legacy of Kindred Community and provide a safe, welcoming space for women who have lost their husbands to gather and enjoy an intentionally designed evening for them,” Roberts said.
The grant for the Douglass Community Center will help to purchase food and supplies for its relaunched lunch program in partnership with the Douglass Eastside Senior Citizens Center. Education and digital literacy, food insecurity and community development are priorities of the Charitable Giving Fund when looking at organizations to award its annual grants. The application period will open every spring and fall.
The next application period will be from Oct. 1–31. For more information about applying for the Sparklight Charitable Giving Fund grant, visit www.
