The Bemidji Pioneer, Paul Bunyan Broadcasting, Ken K. Thompson and the United Way are recognizing “Someone Special Volunteers” who have made significant contributions to the community. The Boys and Girls Club of the Bemidji Area has nominated Dr.
Sarah Cronin and Janet Nelson. "Dr. Sarah Cronin joined the Boys and Girls Club board in 2019 and has been a valued contributor to our organization," a release said.
"She is a strong advocate for the club mission and puts kids and teens first." Dr. Cronin chaired the Program and Safety Committee through the pandemic and served as the board chair.
She brings her expertise as a counseling psychologist and evaluator to club programs and has helped secure and meet grant objectives. "Cronin is a club champion, sharing with others the mission of the club," added the release. "Our club programs are stronger because Dr.
Cronin is a part of our team." Janet Nelson brings her expertise in photography and love of the outdoors to the club. For several years now, Nelson has taught club kids and teens how to create photos in the club garden that capture the beauty of nature.
Because of Nelson's guidance, club youth have submitted pieces to the national photography contest. She also dedicates time in December to making ornaments with club kids. "She goes above and beyond by helping to organize all the photos and helps select key photos to use on club publications," the release said.
"We're grateful Nelson is a strong club champion.".
