CHELMSFORD — The second location for a popular Cambodian restaurant celebrated being fully open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday morning after it had been open with a “soft launch” last June. The owners and employees of Simply Khmer gathered in the dining room of their Chelmsford location at 7 Summer St. to cut a ribbon to commemorate being fully open.
The Cambodian restaurant had opened its second location last year, but could not present its full offerings due to not yet having a license to serve alcohol, which they were finally granted recently. “We are excited to be in this location to present our food and our culture to this wonderful place,” said Simply Khmer’s Head Chef Kea Ban. The restaurant, which is owned by Denise Ban and Sambath Eanglee, originally came to be in 2007 in Lowell, which has one of the highest populations of Cambodian Americans in the country.
Head bartender Xavier Eanglee said that this second location will have a slightly different focus in its menu compared to the Lowell location. “This second location focuses more on regional Cambodian noodle dishes, and we also have a bar here, so hopefully we can make this place a little bit more fun. Relax, have a drink and try different types of Cambodian style street food, noodles and rice dishes,” said Xavier Eanglee.
