Police were still searching Friday for the cap-and-gown clad suspect who opened fire the previous day following a high school graduation in the Seaport, wounding an 18-year-old woman. m. Thursday after Boston Collaborative High School’s graduation ceremony at the Institute of Contemporary Art, police said. The shooting took place following an altercation in a nearby parking garage, according to a preliminary police investigation.



Officers found ballistic evidence and damage to vehicles in the garage. Police Commissioner Michael Cox said Thursday that the shooting did not appear to be random and there was no apparent danger to the public. Police have not released the name of the victim and had no updates on her condition as of Friday afternoon.

Advertisement Witnesses said the shooter was a young man wearing a blue cap and gown, and he was last seen running behind 100 Pier 4 Blvd., police wrote in a report. Boston Collaborative is an alternative high school that enrolled 178 students last year, according to Boston Public Schools.
